I don’t like Hamburger Helper. I don’t like making it, either, but for some reason, my two guys like it, so every once in a while, I’ll make it. Wow, that was a LOT of commas.
Anyway, we had Four Cheese Lasagna and it was pretty good. Note to hubby and son: that does not mean that we will eat this on a weekly basis, okay? You don’t need much to make Hamburger Helper, either. Just whatever the box says. For instance, all I needed to make this was one pound of hamburger, water and milk.Check out this cool measuring cup that my mom gave me:You can read the measurement from standing, no more having to bend your knees to read the measuring cup. Cool, huh?
Brown the hamburger, add the packet of seasonings, water and milk. Now, this is where I don’t follow the directions on the box; the box says to add the pasta, bring to a boil, cover and simmer for ten minutes.
I bring the hamburger, seasonings, water and milk to a nice boil, THEN add the pasta, cover and simmer for ten minutes, uncovering and stirring occasionally. I know, I like to break rules and make up my own directions sometimes…keeps life interesting, IMO.
Once the pasta is al dente, it’s ready to eat. I set the timer but when I stir, I test the pasta. Mushy pasta is blah and there’s no way anyone in this family is going to be served mushy pasta.
